Japandroids: The Boys Are Leaving Town

I think one of the things that makes Post-Nothing so good is how much in lock step these two guys are with each other. They're both just bashing out holy awesome loud on exactly the same wavelength, and it makes something simple come across incredibly well.

On Repeat- Girls "Hellhole Ratrace"

Initially, my entry point for this album was Headache, a very Beach Boys-esque, hazy, languid, ballad that is sadly unrepresented on the internet. It's okay, this song is more epic and sad and heartbreaking anyway. I discovered it this morning when i clicked my ipod back one to many tracks. The video does very little for me. I suggest listening thru headphones, by yourself, while sobbing if possible.

A little background: Girls singer Christopher Owens was born into the Children of God cult, which like most cults is none to awesome. This context really amps up the power of the song for me- he knows he's a weird sad-sack, but goddammit he doesn't want to be.
