The sis is into a site that posts drunk texts regrets. came across this one and had the same feeling as Chunk's latest "fingers in the mouth" test, but it seems way better.

"(586): There was a point where some of my friends attempted 'moi's', which stands for makeout on introduction.
(586): It involved going up to women and very aggressively trying to make out with them upon meeting them
(586): Surprisingly the success rate was exceedingly high"

from now on let's just start make out sesssion when needed and see who gets arrested first.

Be Seeing You...

AMC is reworking Patrick McGoohan's "The Prisoner" as a mini-series, with Jesus himself as #6. Ian Mckellan will play #2 throughout (#2 was several different characters in the orginal, played by seperate actors, tho they all served the same function). You can view the lenghty teaser after the jump.

Caviezel seems to lack McGoohan's suspicous, fiercely independent dryness and could be the weak link. On the plus side Ian McKellan seems awesome as #2, and the production design is interesting. I'm excited.

I hate when they do that

.
I had a real chris moment when looking at artwork for the film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. i recall when the movie was going to come out i saw the poster and was all hell yes, then the dvd came out and it looked super gay.

I know they gotta sell the movie but how come the dvd covers get so superfucked, doesnt the director have any say about that phase? it just makes me mad when i try to get someone interested in the movie, show em the cover and they say no thankyou. i have to promise them its actual good.

I encountered alot of this when making my movie table. great movies with some really tragic home video artwork.

I watched this again tonight and Confessions is a cult classic, charlie Kaufman wrote it and its crazy like you would expect. and no amount of drew barrymoreness can sink it.

this is a link with a bunch of examples of the shit some of these are even in my personal collection.

Soul Power & 'It Might Get Loud'

ALL MY HEROES YES!!

and if it's long the rest here.

Moon

Me and lee went to see this one.(sorry chris couldnt wait) its excellent! imagery is similar to 2001. but the story is real good. hard sci-fi for all you fans of that genre. sam rockwell is one of my favorite actors and you get a big dose of him here. I realized after the movie that i may have adsorbed a big part of Rockwell personality inadvertently.
The writer/director is david bowie's son, and it kind of feels like a bowie song. most of you probably wont see this one in the theaters but when it hits dvd be sure to check it. I give it 4 out 5 stars.

TTW- one couch, two ways

Stray observations:

-Ice pops- so it's summer, right?

-It's interesting to see how far rick's look has evolved in the last 8 years. Har. Also, Vee looks like he's audtioning to be a weldon.

-Apparently at some point i owned a Led Zeppelin black light poster. I have to believe, for me, that this was a purchase made when i was very, very high.

Okay, i'm saying this pic hails from august 2001. Does the below pic precede or follow?

I say later, maybe october of the same year. Peter's wearing long pants and shirt, and the place looks a little more ramshackle. On the other hand, peter is known for wearing season inappropriate garb, and the poster arrangement is weirdly different.

Why the blues brothers for devo? strange times. Meeting people that age now, i wonder, "where we like that?" Fuck no. We were cooler.

BONUS: i do remember the second picture being taken, and that the guy under peter was not happy about what was happening. He was a friend of a friend, and a little upset by us, so peter went ahead and sealed the deal by jumping on him for a kiss.
It was a wonderful moment.

Social Control

Amazon sold people "1984" and "Animal Farm" for their Kindles, but it turns out the people who said they owned it didn't. So they had to delete it. From everybody.

Hadn't really given this story much thought, kind of laughing at the irony of it but seeing it as a simple rights issue. After reading this article at io9, it made me think that maybe this idea is a little scary.

"Whispernet"

Weird.

TTW - eating glass

This file named: eating glass. Do not remember naming it- but chunk is a drunk compute-er, so no suprise. This evening we (me) drank an entire handle of Jim Beam and drove Rick home. Sometime after this I developed the stomach problems that prevent me from drinking like that to this day.

Does anyone remember this night? In my mind all of the nights at dustin's place (also jesse's?) kinda blend together. A thoroughly pleasant backyard for drinks and conversation. Though i remember more drunk navel-gazing, less the conversation.

Actually i remember very little of it.

From the same time and place (and maybe the same night) is peteguitar. aptly named.

TTW- earlydome50

I can't really explain why i like this picture so much. It's a low-quality, low-light, out of focus picture probably taken by accident on an early digital camera.

But...

It really captures the time, doesn't it? Jesse is passive, which is wierd, but interesting, and also very young and slim. In the background you can see peter wearing a basketball jersey over camo's.

This picture sucks, but for some reason it captures an honest moment in time unlike so many other from the period.

Maybe it's context again....this is earlydome49 (the preceding pic):

What's interesting about both of these pics is that the photographer (most likely me, but who knows) was obviously having to much fun to fuck with the flash. I like that. Also, the flower sitting in the mouth of the jug in earlydome49 was also featured in the stagefright movie....chris, still waiting for you to get your shit together on bringing that to the internet.

Must see

Lee brought this to my attention. For full effect, you absolutely have to watch until the end. It is beyond confusing, everything that could possibly be wrong with music and popular culture all at once. I've never actually said "the fucking kids these days..." and meant it until now.

neutered hardcore, synchronized headbanging/guitar shaking, autotune heart swoon, and ridiculously off mark techno, all with non-existant arrangement transitions, while all band members undifferentiate-able.

i thought the bankruptcy of hot topic had brought the unfortunate progression of shit like this to a halt. silly me.

and to think 5 yrs ago The Blood Brothers upset me on the same level. if only i were to know what was to come.

TTW- Lights & Music

Goldeneye on the TV; i can see from the lights on the stereo it's on way too loud. Also, Rick is high. How do i know? b/c this picture precedes it:

Scott Walker bonus for Rick

As far as I can tell, the Walker-sung track (he didn't write it), appears orginally on "The World Is Not Enough" soundtrack, and was recorded at roughly the same time. Nice to know he can still do it when he wants to. Didn't make it into the movie...suprised?

In 1997 Walker recorded this cover of dylan's "I Threw It All Away" for another film soundtrack. I prefer dylan's version, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Also, my Walker Brothers collection does not include this song, and is so woefully imcomplete:

I've uploaded some to the pictures of our second beach trip from a few weeks ago to my flickr photostream. enjoy.
