Delorean's debut LP "Subiza" is quickly growing into a favourite, summer soundtrack material. 'Grow' is standout in particular, first grabbing my attention a couple of days ago when it struck me as the sunny inverse of a Burial track. This 'live in the studio' video from pitchfork doesn't quite do the album version full justice, but should be a serviceable way to experience the song whilst giving your eyes something to do.

Fuck Yes
A little featurette about Danny Trejo's character in Predators:
Also, AV Club has a appropriately down to earth, awesome interview with Trejo. Count how many times he uses the word 'cute'. Not cute as is cuddly, but cute as in "he thought he was being cute, so i dis-en-fucking-boweled him."

Caribou "Odessa"
Caribou's "Odessa" from 2010's Swim LP. Reminds me of an AFX B-side i had back in the danger days, but much, much better.

There are so many good quotable lines...
...but I'm gonna have to go with "Where does the Sun go at night?"
This isn't as good as Chunks' post because this was made as a joke. It's still good though...enjoy
and if it's long the rest here.

Mux Mool - Skulltaste
Windows down, eyes squinting in bright spring sun, Weed smiles commence. Can't tell me that don't sound like a nice proposition. Electronic beats to soundtrack this wonderful adventure. I'm partial to the "Get Better John" melody right now.

Winner Winner

Duke wins their fourth National Championship.
and if it's long the rest here.
The Champs
Nice Try
I played ball last night and in polling the 10 guys, myself included, 9 of them wanted Butler to win, myself included. All 10 however thought that Duke would be victorious.
Like when the World Champion Yankees playing in the series last year, not a lot of people wanted them to win but everyone thought they would. Such is life, such is Mango.

I've let you down, I've let you all down...

...and Rick is gay!
My new post will a helpful and insightful guide into the world of sports so that the next time you're out with the boys and random guy asks if you saw that touchdown in the basketball game last night you can call foul. And know that he is probably hitting on you because Danger Crew is sexy.
Just like you all now know Rick's sexuality, you will know a fun fact about a current event in the wide world of sports. It will not be "after the jump". It will not be explained (on the main page, I will go into more detail "after the jump"). I will make it quick and painless so you can take a quick glace and if it's not the five course meal you're accustomed to then no harm.
Since I've got your attention I'll start with some not so surprising news that was surprising. Name the dude above?
Story
This, to me, is a sad but inevitable story. Because McNabb never won a Superbowl he was never considered great to the Eagle fans. And I agree. He got close but without the title it's meaningless.
McNabb was traded to the Redskins.
Conversate??

Friday Evening Pop Art Banquet
With the advent of Netflix, Redbox, and streaming video on the internet, the end of your blockbusters and movie gallerys is fact. For the most part, we will not mourn thier passing, nor should we. There is one, little thing though, that will be missed. In a way it's more a part of the culture of the independent video store than the blockbuster; i remember a video rental store frequented by my family that is now occupied by Vibe.

Anyway, the fun i'm talking about is VHS Cover art. Who among us wasn't enticed, excited and occasionally frightened by these little pop art masterpieces? Modern covers are photoshop construced pieces of bland marketing; those VHS covers of the past were flea-market approved bits of exploitation. RIP.

Ted Leo does Tears
The AV Club has started a new weekly feature: a band picks a song from a list made by the AV Club, covers it, and then the song is marked off the list so the next band has one less song to choose from. I wasn't sure how well the concept would work (and still suspect that it will post dimishing returns as the list dwindles) but the first installment is good fun. Ted Leo and the Pharmascists do service to "Everybody Wants to Rule the World":
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists cover Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"
and if it's long the rest here.

Indie is the old 'Alternative'
After reading a Why We Fight on pitchfork (a discussion on approach to merits of music, fucking awesome) i was rubbed once again with the idea that the nomenclature of "Indie" is applied to everything now that isn't Beyonce.
While nitpicking genres used to be relegated for Sam Goody arguments as to whether NIN was stacked in the Rock or Heavy Metal section, Independent music doesn't leave much room for iffy-ness........
At most, small label. Independent label. Non-corporate label. At worst, unsigned band you dug enough to hope you could hate them later once everyone found out about them a year later (haterish bitches).
Still, anything not immediately played on radio is Indie now and wondering why. Labels are labels, easy outs the same. But the descriptor is less a vague feeling of the music and more an actual status, so I'm continuously confused.
Doesn't matter at all in the grand scheme, hadn't ranted in a while, but wtf?
Also read that article and anticipate more. I miss legit music arguments.

PC Computers Bring Next Level Shit
The amount Die Antwoord will appeal to is directly proportional to how seriously you choose to take them. I, for one, am taking it seriously. You learn something new every day, and today i learned that Afrikaaners have there own version of white trash, "Zef," and that this is how they get down.
