A little bit back Rick and I were talking about reboots and reimaginings, and i mentioned that maybe star wars could benefit from one. Rick seemed less than open to this idea, dismissing it offhand- "Lucas will never let it happen. They're too deep." I suggested that Lucas wouldn't live forever, and i think Rick got sad and changed the subject.
IO9 has some simple suggestions for rebooting star wars. Most of it's pretty simple stuff, taken from the success of Batman Begins and Star Trek, and sadly they don't say anything about Lucas dying (though there is something about him being in the poorhouse). I think a Star Wars reboot, done right, would be sublime.
