southern rap redux

Recently, with a little help from lee, i tried to sell rick on listening to his local popular rap radio station. For those of you who haven't tried, i think rap radio is the last viable pop radio format; don't hate if you haven't given it a chance. After sifting trough shitty R&B tracks (the Journey of Rap Radio) and your SoldierBoy level shit (equal to maybe your three doors down or other bland dumbness) rap radio really delivers....in a market like ours (rural deep south) it's the only source of constant innovation and amusement, at least if your tuning in FM. Even the commercials deliver, as you might have seen from the pawn shop adverts posted previously.

So this track isn't really clever or orginal, but i heard it on 107.7 THE JAM all the time until i got my iPod juiced up again. anyway, enjoys or hate, at least you were entertained.

and if it's long the rest here.

check out the other nappy roots albums. they're solid efforts, alot of it thoroughly enjoyable and creative, and it was odd to me when their second album came out because they got hated on for emphasising southern culture in their music.

essentially, other rappers hated they talked about living in the country, or eating collards, or anything that actually occurs living in kentucky and all through the south day to day, when their whole schtick is making up bullshit that never happened in different boroughs in new york. they claimed stereotype, these dudes owned up unabashedly to honest enjoyment without embellishment.

you like fried chicken? so does everybody on the face of the earth. just cause you're black don't be scared to say it. haha.

can't say it's all good, but there's some fun stuff that avoids the cheeziness of arrested development and actually talks about where they're coming from in a way nobody's done it before.

po' folks from the first one that hit big, with anthony hamilton likewise.

guilty my ass that shit is good.
